Some tech stuff

Every once in a while I like to spoil myself. Sometimes it is because I simply can, sometimes because it feels great to indulge myself.

It is true, I have been feeling blue lately and I admit this time I wanted to sooth myself too.

I have an iPad Air and an Asus tablet but when not in front of my iMac it is the iPad I use most often. For outside I also have a 6″ E-Ink reader.

Recently I upgraded an ‘old’ laptop of mine from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for Little A. to use.

Windows 8 somehow passed unnoticed but 10, wow, Microsoft is a whole different ball game.

I gave my iPhone 4s to Big A. who was as happy as a clam with it. I did not want to spend much on a device only serving as a telephone, an agenda/calendar and for texting.

So I bought a Lumia 640 LTE with Windows 8.1 and I am very happy with the phone. In fact, I think I am going to get a Lumia 635 for Princess. Her iPhone 3 GS is slowly dying.

After days of eye shopping and reading review I finally made up my mind.

This morning I drove to a huge electronics store near Antwerp. I felt excited, happy and nervous as a little kid who’s anxiously waiting for Santa Claus. This alone was such a pleasure.

I bought a Lenovo MIIX 3-1030 10.1″ Windows tablet.

It has an Intel Quad-Core processor, 2 GB of memory and 64 GB of eMMC storage. I added a 32 Gb SD card and a micro HDMI to HDMI connector. The 1920 x 1200 IPS display is very good.

It comes with a keyboard making this tablet a 2-in-1. The keyboard is very good too and feels okay.

That was what I have been missing on the iPad albeit I have a Bluetooth keyboard for it.

I have not played with it much, it has been updating itself to Windows 8.1 and now I am trying to find out how to upgrade it to Windows 10.

The tablet is very responsive, even if 2 GB of memory is not that much.

The Microsoft Surface is a beauty but way to expensive for me.

The Lenovo set me back 299 € (340$) and in my opinion a steal.

Now it is about getting my devices to talk to each other…
